Join Carly (One of Six) and Theo (Theodora Goes Wild) for a whole day of creativity and mindful making at the One of Six cabin in Walthamstow Central.
Spend half of the day learning how to crochet little worry worms and flowers and the other half learning about the process of cyanotype printing onto fabric.
This club is open to all children aged 8+. All you need is a desire to learn and an enthusiasm to try new things.
The groups won't be bigger than 6 children each, so everyone will get lots of attention.
We will focus on encouragement and celebration of our successes, fostering a sense of pride in what we've achieved.
Kindness and collaboration will be at the centre of these groups.
Where is it?
The One of Six cabin is part of Thames-Side Studios in Walthamstow Central:
Studio 12, 259a High Street, Walthamstow, E17 7BH (entrance is on Cleveland Park Avenue)

The cabin is a lovely light space, kitted out with sewing machines and haberdashery. It has its own toilet and sink facilities. Please note the cabin does not have step free access.

Who is running the day?
Carly from One of Six will be running the cyanotype printing workshop. Carly is an experienced teacher and SENDCo and self-taught sewer with a love of repurposing and upcycling.
Theo from 'Theodora Goes Wild' will be running the crochet workshop. Theo is a knit and crochet designer with many years of experience both making and teaching workshops in her craft.
Both Carly and Theo are DBS checked. Carly has completed full paediatric First Aid training.
How will the day work?
The day will be split into two halves with a lunch break in the middle and celebration of our work at the end:
10 - 12.30pm - Group 1 printing, Group 2 crochet
12.30 - 1.15 - Lunch break
1.15 - 3.45 - Group 2 printing, Group 1 crochet
3.45 - 4pm - Celebration of our work
Learn to crochet Workshop:
A playful, creative, and calming introduction to crochet for kids.
The children will learn some basic stitches to crochet a Worry Worm, to put on a key chain or as a little buddy to keep in your pocket.

Cyanotype printing workshop:
The children will learn about the safe, sun-activated printing process for turning natural materials like leaves or flowers into silhouettes on fabric. The process involves coating fabric with a special solution that reacts to sunlight, turning deep blue where exposed and leaving the areas covered (blocked from the sun) white.
The cyanotype process is non-toxic and safe for children when using pre-treated fabric. It doesn't require harsh chemicals, and the UV exposure times are brief.
It's an exciting blend of art, nature, and science. It provides a fantastic way for children to explore their creativity, while also learning about the natural world and basic scientific principles.
All tools and materials will be provided.
